"Drafting a Winning Strategy": Moving up for WR#1

The Buffalo Bills have parted ways with star wide receiver Stefon Diggs. The four-time Pro Bowler was sent away with two draft picks to the Houston Texans in exchange for a 2025 second round pick. Considering Diggs’ 8 plus game decline, lack of playoff production and social media antics, maybe it was finally time to move on and draft his replacement now. Thankfully, the Bills could take advantage of this year's deep class of WR talent and select a receiver in round two or three if they miss out on wideouts in the first round. However, I don’t billieve the Bills Mafia want to wait. In fact, it’s a general consensus that Beane should trade up and grab one of the Top 3 WR in the Draft (Harrison, Nabers, Odunze) . According to a recent 24/7BF poll - the Bills Mafia would like to see Beane and Company trade up to the Top 10. Considering that the elite 3 should all be drafted by pick 12, this move makes sense. Harrison is expected to be gone by pick #4, a draft position that could be too rich for the Bills, so we’ll draw attention to one of the other two, Malik Nabers.

Nabers is a very versatile wideout who can play X, Z and slot effectively. He has a skill set already that can make him an impact player in the NFL. His speed, tracking ability, yards after catch ability and ability to contest any pass could make him a nightmare for any CB in the NFL. His sharp route running, quickness and separation ability set him apart from former Bills wideouts, Davis and Diggs. Nabers has the frustrating ability to snap off routes with his quick footwork, which would greatly benefit a scrambling Josh Allen and frustrate anyone who has manned him up. Drafting a Top 10 WR prospect has fared well for NFL teams in past years. If the Buffalo Bills can figure out a way to find a trade partner within the top 10 picks this year they would surely find a gem at the WR position and possibly an immediate impactful day 1 starter. Nabers’ is a no brainer and the Bills receiver room would immediately be better than that of 2023.
